Why every one of the 153 teak trees stayed

“Every one of the 153 teak trees on this land stays; the basement was drawn around their roots.”
When we first surveyed the three point eight two acres off Airport Road, the most striking feature was not the location or the elevation—it was the quiet canopy of 153 mature teak trees. Most developments begin with clear-cutting. We chose to draw our architecture around nature.
Every basement column, every root boundary, and every vertical courtyard line was calculated so that not a single tree needed to be displaced. Living alongside mature teak trees brings lower microclimate temperatures, natural shade, and a profound sense of rootedness.
"Architecture should compliment the earth, not replace it."
At Hanging Gardens, when you look out your window in Landscape Mode, your view is framed by decades of organic growth.
